Facilitating daily operations

NSO facilitates daily operations and service provisioning by eliminating some of the most common obstacles. Experts don't need to be involved to troubleshoot simple configuration mistakes because it is easy to fix problems, change service parameters on the fly, try provisioning again. Furthermore, no need for determining hundreds of parameters in advance each time service provisioning have to be done, such as IDs, names, addresses, VLANs, etc. And, one orchestrator is used for whole infrastructure - any vendor, any device, as many nodes as you need, any topology, any set of commands is needed.

End-to-end orchestration

NSO does not orchestrate network device configuration, it orchestrates end-to-end services. The difference is huge and particularly pronounced in complex environments. Instead device configuration, provisioning start with service modeling with YANG. Configuration logic based on NetConf is used to ensure consistency, cleanup in case of failure, and independence of order-of-operations. These are standardized methods and fully integrated with other orchestration and NFV solutions. The service model is essentially simple and includes configuration of elements and their relations, and is adapted to the customer's requirements. That makes it applicable to arbitrary workflows, from initial configurations and manual interventions, to complex multi-step workflows and migrations.
